Douro - Quinta do Vallado
Quinta do Vallado, founded in 1716, is one of the oldest and best known 'Quintas' in the Douro Valley and once belonged to the legendary Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, one of the pioneers in port wine making, and still belongs to its descendants. It is located on both banks of the Corgo River, a tributary of the Douro River, near the mouth, close to the city of Peso da Régua. For almost 200 years the production of port wines was Quinta do Vallado's main activity, which was commercialized by the Ferreira Port House (belonging to the Ferreira family). After their years of tradition of selling their production to the Ferreiro Portwine House, the company decided in 1993 to produce, bottle and commercialize still wines under its own label. Today, with 90ha, of which 20ha in the new Quinta do Orgal in the Douro Superior, Quinta do Vallado has achieved highly acclaimed national and international levels of quality and recognition, and is part of the renowned Douro Boys group
