Vintage

A frasqueira is a Madeira that has been aged at least 20 years in barrels, but often much longer - even 50 or 100 years of cask aging is no exception - plus two years in the bottle before the sale may take place.
 
Earlier this wine was called vintage madera. A frasqueira must consist entirely of one of the top varieties listed on the label, together with the harvest and bottle year.
Frasqueira's are always derived from one good harvest year and one grape breed. They have undergone a mild temperature treatment and have been stored on wooden vessels for a long time. After bottling, the quality of frasqueira does not change anymore.
