Red wine from the Tagus region, produced from the Castelão grape variety. It presents a highly intense aroma with live wild fruits, slightly minty, notes of resin in harmony with the discreet and very well integrated wood. It has an intense ruby color. Excellent volume, firm tannins, very marked acidity, where notes of wild fruits are evident. Finish of great elegance and freshness.

To produce this wine, the best Castelão grapes from Quinta da Alorna were selected, which were harvested manually. The low temperatures seen at the beginning of the grape harvest resulted in a very spaced and long harvest. However, the dry climate that was felt in the final phase contributed to the production of grapes with excellent aromatic quality and natural acidity. The wine undergoes cold pre-fermentation skin maceration for 2 days, followed by alcoholic fermentation for 10 days, with gentle pumping over at a controlled temperature. Finally, this red aged in second-use American oak barrels for a period of four months. Before bottling the wine is filtered.

Sitting majestically in the Tejo region, Quinta da Alorna has a wide array of vineyards which are worked in a sustainable and socially responsible way, looking after both the land and the workers. Portugal's trump card is its wide array of toothsome indigenous varieties and they are put to good work here. Aromatic Fernao Pires, tight, minerally Arinto and the Portuguese iteration of Tempranillo, Tinto Roriz, are amongst the bevy of blindingly tasty components that they have to work with and the result is an accomplished range of distinctly Portuguese wines.
