Douro - Barros Porto

In the Port Wine history, and until today, Barros has become known as a prestige brand due to the quality of its Port wines. Founded as a company in the beginning of the 20th century, in 1913, by the hands of Manuel de Almeida, with designation "Almeida em Comandita", Barros was at the time mainly dedicated to the Port Wine trade, reason why it was located in Vila Nova de Gaia.

Porto Barros is now part of Sogvenius Fine Wines, a renowned company specializing in quality Port wines and DOC Douro wines. Sogvenius also runs well-known brands like Kopke, Burmeister and Calem.

The grapes for Barros Porto come from the Quinta de S.Luíz vineyards, located in the Douro. These vineyards are considered to be one of the most representative vineyards in the Douro region. In addition to Port wines, Barros has recently also been active as a producer of DOC Douro wines, made from typical Portuguese grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barocca, Arinto and Gouveio. These wines are fresh and soft and full of harmonious elegance

Barros Porto is presently recognised and appreciated all over the world. A great deal of its high awareness is a result of a special Port Wine called Colheitas special quality Port Wine that ages in oak casks for a period of 7 years. Numerous awards and medals bear witness to this historic collection of excellent Portuguese wines
